NBA notes - 1/10/2007

Some dogs on the schedule today. The Lakers were no match for the Rockets even with T-Mac scoring just 8 points. Whats up with all these super-stars scoring exactly 8 pts the last couple of weeks? Kobe didn't have a great game either and a good win for the Rockets. Warriors put on a pathetic show at home against the Magic. The Man-Child was ON today. 30 points and 25 boards for Dwight Howard ! This guy is truly the next big thing. He is the new (pre-injury) Amare in terms of raw power. If Amare gets back to his peak, they should be the premier big men (along with Yao) over the next decade. Amare is probably a little quicker on his feet, but Howard is a little bigger. When Howard nails down a few more low-post moves, he'll also be the next Tim Duncan in terms of carrying a franchise and winning championships. The Magic knew the Warriors had a thin front-line and they went to Howard almost every time and it worked like a charm.

Chicago lost to Washington in-spite of Arenas having a sub-par game. Hinrich had 33 points and I am sure the Bulls were glad to see that. Detroit lost another one at home and Sheed was "demoted" to the bench. Looks like they are missing Chauncey big-time. Wade had 29-5-13 to help Heat win another one on the road. Denver welcomed back J.R.Smith, but couldn't stop the Spurs. Tony Parker was too good and AI's 33 was not enough. JR had 12, but was 0-4 from 3.

Chicago @ Washington - 103-113
LA Lakers @ Houston - 77-102
Orlando @ Golden State - 92-83

Interesting games on the board for the Jan 11-th (Thursday)

Cleveland @ Phoenix - The King's only visit to the valley of the Sun. Cavs and Suns have been playing some great games the last couple of years. The Cavs are hot right now.
