NBA notes - 1/06/2007

Cleveland beat NJ today. Looks like the Cavs are finally beginning to settle down into a groove. King James is awesome. He has not been scoring too much lately, but he is always making key plays and involving his teammates. He had 19-14-4 in this game, though the best dunk of the night still belonged to Vince. This is a league of great athletes and there are hundreds of guys who can dunk. But there's still something about Vince Carter's dunks. He is just at a slightly higher level than even guys like Kobe or Lebron when it comes to pure jumping ability. It looks like he is just effortlessly jumping off a trampoline when he takes off.

Utah took care of Denver and looks like AI and the Nuggets are struggling to win with all that suspensions. Golden State beat Seattle 108-104. Monta Ellis returned to the lineup for the Warriors and they are happy about it. Ray Allen had 38 points in a loss. He is so much fun to watch. I don't think there's a smoother looking player in the league. He just flows on the court like water. I thought Alan Houston was a little like that 4 or 5 years back, but I can't think of anybody else who's that smooth.

Big Ben and the Bulls crushed Detroit as expected. I don't think the Pistons were going to walk into Chicago without Chauncey Billups and beat Big Ben. Bulls played with a lot of energy and dominated the game. Luol Deng scored 30 points and seems to be coming into his own. He is a great weapon to have with his height, length and athleticism. Suns traded that pick to the Bulls and you wonder how good he would have been running and gunning with Steve Nash.

New Jersey @ Cleveland - 91-96
Detroit @ Chicago - 89-106

Interesting games on the board for the Jan 7-th (Sunday)

Dallas @ LA Lakers - Dallas going into LA with a 13 game winning streak. One of the few times I actually want to pull for LA since I don't want Dallas to get any better than Phoenix.

Golden State @ Phoenix - Should be a fun, high scoring win for the Suns.
