The trade deadline was a big non-event as expected. Nothing went down. Lakers were not willing to part with Bynum, and rightfully so, for J-Kidd. Bulls were not willing to part with Ben Gordon and/or Luol Deng for Pau Gasol. Not sure how right the Bulls were with that call. I might have gone for it. Cavs had nothing to part with to get Bibby. They don't have any young talent (except King James that is). They were willing to give Drew Gooden, but who wants Drew Gooden? There were a few small deals not worth discussing.
The most fascinating story I read today was about how the Phoenix Suns suddenly jumped into the Kidd trade talks and almost pulled it off. Thats something. Kidd and Nash running and gunning in this offense would have been awesome! The Suns would have gotten way more than the backup PG they have been looking for the last 3 years. I would guess they probably tempted Rod Thorn with those Atlanta picks. Not sure what else was offered to offset the salaries etc. I hope they didn't dangle Marion, but they probably did since these trades have to match the salaries.
As for the games today, Cleveland lost at home to Chicago. May be they were all depressed that Ferry couldn't score Bibby for them after all that time he invested :-) Dallas had no problem dealing with Miami without Wade. Shaq had 17 points and that was not even enough to offset Jason Terry's 21, let alone Nowitzki's 31-11. Agent-0 poured in 43 to beat the Kings. Artest had 32-6-3 but nobody could stop Agent-0.
Miami @ Dallas - 100-112
Chicago @ Cleveland - 84-98
Interesting games on the board for Feb 23-rd (Friday)
Indiana @ Toronto - Almost identical records for these L-Eastern conference powerhouses!
Washington @ Chicago - Another good L-Eastern match-up.
Phoenix @ Minnesota - Phoenix lost there last time. Revenge time!
Utah @ Denver - Can AI and Melo win any meaningful games?
