The good King and the bad King - NBA notes - 03/01/2007

Spectacular performance from the King against the toughest team in the league on the road. LeBron scored 39 pts, 3 boards and 5 assists. Thats superstar numbers, but the Cavs still lost a close one. LeBron missed 2 crucial free throws and 2 3-pointers at the end. He also set up his teammates in the last few minutes for open 3's that they missed. The Mavs streak continues and all kinds of talk about the Cavs now. There's some talk about how LeBron is still not clutch enough and is not a closer. There's talk about how the Cavs don't have enough around him. There's talk about how the King is getting frustrated with the Cavs because of the talent around him and he might even want out if this continues. There's talk about how Danny Ferry is very aware of it and thats why they desperately wanted Bibby. By the way, Bibby would have been a PERFECT fit for the Cavs. A dependable shooter and a point guard who can clutch up with the best of them! There are also some rumblings about his big ego and poor shot selection at times. I think there is some truth to all of this.

Basically the expectations are too high for Bron-Bron. So if they don't win it all, there are going to be some criticisms over the next few years. Every super-star has to go through this. LeBron is still young and he is not a closer like Kobe or even Wade, at least not yet. Who can blame him if he has a big ego as well? There's nobody who has had to deal with the kind of hype this guy has dealt with since he was 14! Some of that has to get to his head eventually. Given all that, I would say he has been fairly controversy free and always seems to say the right things to the press. He is mature, but I can see in his demeanor and even his game that he may have some ego. He shares the ball real well, but sometimes I feel like he was a much better passer 2 years back. Hope he stays on course and realizes that in a year or two, they should put enough talent around him and he would also be good enough by then to win it all. There's no point getting upset with his front-office this early in his career. Hope he has his head screwed on straight like KG who, to this day, has not asked for a trade out of Minnesota in-spite of the fact nobody would blame him if he did. LeBron needs to be patient and also keep working on his game and things will work out in Cleveland. It's not that hard to build a winner around King James though the whole C-Boozer episode is still hurting the Cavs. They would be awesome if they had Carlos Boozer as their power forward. It was not meant to be and now LeBron should sit tight like KG and see what happens in Cleveland.

Cleveland @ Dallas - 92-95

Interesting games on the board for Mar 2-nd (Friday)

Detroit @ Miami- Another tough test for the Heat without Wade.

Houston @ Denver - Decent Western match-up.

Sacramento @ LA Lakers - Biggest rivalry in the league 5 years back! The Kings should wake up for this one even today.
