Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer showed once again why they are very worthy heirs to the legacy of Stockton and Malone. These guys are no joke as they are impressing the nation in these playoffs, that too against a tough Spurs team. This was Boozer's second great game of the series and Deron has actually been terrific in all 3. Boozer had 27-12 on 12/19 shooting in this one and Deron had 31 with 8 dimes and 5 steals and shot 10/19 with some dazzling moves in the second half. They got some help from the bench and Fisher, though AK-47 and Okur did not make a single shot from the floor. Harping and Millsap had 8 each and Giricek and Fisher had 11 each to help the big 2.
The Jazz started slow and the Spurs jumped to a 23-15 lead after one, much to the concern of the home crowd. But the key was Jazz avoiding a disastrous second quarter the ones they had in both games at San Antonio. They won the second 28-24 in this one and went into the half trailing by just 4. Then they came out in the and played real well to take the lead for good. Things got real bad for the Spurs in the fourth and the game got out of hand for them real quick as Deron ran circles around them.
The main problem for the Spurs was Timmy's foul trouble. It's amazing how different the Spurs look when this guys not on the floor. The paint suddenly becomes a lot more accessible for the Jazz. Timmy played just 26 minutes today and scored just 16. Tony Parker was on fire as Eva Longoria looked especially hot court-side cheering his 25 points and 7 dimes. Bad game from Manu and that doesn't help when Timmy is not on the floor. The Spurs better win game 4 or they are looking at a 7-game cliff-hanger.
San Antonio @ Detroit - 83-109
Playoff schedule for 05/27/2007
Detroit @ Cleveland - Last year, Clveland won 3 straight after dropping the first 2 in Detroit. They'll try to do the same this year.
