King's court - NBA playoff notes - 05/27/2007

Going in to Cleveland, I knew this was LeBron's game, win or lose. He was due for a big game and this had to be the one. Detroit is too good defensively to give him too many great games, but he was going to have one for sure. Boy, did he do it all today! he had a 32-9-9 game as he led the Cavs in all 3 categories. He also shot an efficient 12/21. His dunk on Rasheed Wallace in the fourth was sick! That was a defining moment for the Cavs in this game as it got everybody fired up. James also hit a couple of step-back 3's with high degree of difficulty. It's amazing to see all of his talents and it's funny how he feels more comfortable with his jumper if he's fading away or stepping back rather than just shooting them straight up. And when those jumpers are falling, forget it. He is impossible to guard.

Tayshaun did a good job on him again, but the Cavs supporting cast shot very well. Strong games from Gooden (12-6), Z-man (16-7), Pavlovic (13-3-5) and Daniel Gibson (9). LeBron found these guys for good shots all night and managed the game very well. The Pistons still were in it late and Billups once again showed us why he is called Mr. Big shot as he struggled all night, but made some tough shots at the end. He helped the Pistons score 6 straight to cut the lead from 8 to 2. LeBron had to come back and hit a game-winning jumper to ice this one. Pistons got good work out of C-Webb(15-7-3) and Sheed (16-5), but it was not enough. Tayshaun got untracked on the offensive end today after 2 horrible games with 13 points and C-Webb, who has been missing lately in the playoffs after a strong regular season, was also involved today. The Pistons have to build on that and get better play out of their guards to take control of this series. Cleveland will be ready for the next one.

Detroit @ Cleveland - 88-82

Playoff schedule for 05/28/2007

San Antonio @ Detroit - Big game in this series. If Utah wins, they might actually wrest the momentum from the spurs.
